In architecture, we have seen various structures which get renovated over the period. Mostly in all these structures, the common thing is the form and the function of the space remains the same. But today as a part of the conservation of the heritage, keeping the form intact and changing its function many structures are been redesigned.

The Pyramid of Tiravana is a structure that witnessed various changes with time. Right from being the most popular place in the city to being a Public gathering place for a few years. Pyramid of Tiravana. Constructed in the memories of the late Enver Hoxha a communist. This beautiful monument was designed as a museum considering the aspects of design. The orientation of the building was done in such a manner that each element of the structure had a dialogue with the natural surroundings. This structure was an illusion of the Pyramid holding as a Pedestrian complex.

As we go down the lane this monument deteriorated its use from a Museum to an exhibition hall and later to Public events. The journey through this entire way made the structure look weak day by day. After the entire struggle in 1992, it was declared as National Culture Centre with all the respect and dignity.

Although it’s a heritage property, now it will be used as Youth – Focused Cultural Hub. This Pyramid will maintain its form but it will be segregated into classrooms, studios, cafes, etc. The ground floor earlier used for Public events now will be a walking plaza. Original sloping roofs will be retained by changing their purpose.

The things which come easily to the plate are never fascinating. Even though the idea of converting the structure is empowering but it comes with a challenge. The challenge to create a new relationship between the building and its surroundings.
